To open the lobby door from a phone call

July 2, 2024 by Marshal

Lobby Directory or Intercom Access: How it works

The intercom system (the electronic monitoring system located in the front foyer of the building) allows a guest to enter the building when the desired resident is contacted by phone and authorized by the resident.

The front panel of the intercom has a display that allows the visitor to locate the unit number’s access code. Using the keypad arrows, the visitor should scroll up or down until the reader displays the resident’s unit number and 3-digit access code.

The guest can also determine the correct 3-digit code by reviewing the Building Directory on the foyer wall. Once the code is obtained, the guest must press the 3 digits; the device will dial the associated telephone number. The called party must then press and hold the number nine (9) on his/her telephone keypad to unlock the door for the guest.

To open the door by phone, press 9.

The resident will hear a confirmation tone if access is granted, and the system will automatically hang up. If the resident hangs up to deny access, the system will remain on the line until the programmed talk time expires or it detects a dial tone.
